40th Historic Winton 28th and 29th May 2016

Well I am a bit late putting this up but photos have been on FB for a while. Been a quiet few months this event my last major one for a while since this w/end I have done a couple of odd days at some smaller state rounds and also attended our clubs 30th Anniversary back on the 4th of June and I was also able to enjoy a ride day at Sandown raceway with Jim Richards in his Cup Porsche. So even though not much racing been busy with other things.
So 40th Historic Winton always a great event using the short track I was assigned turn 2.0 which on the short track now becomes turn 9.0. A great turn out of cars and motorbikes for the w/end one of the few historic rounds that have cars and bikes running. Apart from a rollover at turn 3.0 was a quiet w/end has far has reports go i think I may have had two or three for minor things.
Again well looked after buy Winton with dinner on Saturday night and thanks also to the Austin 7 club who run the event for the the gifts they give to all the Officials.
Next event is VSCRC 3 at Sandown on July 23 & 24 know by the Officials has the Hotdog round due to the fact we get Hotdogs for lunch on Sunday. Enjoy the photos and stay safe and have fun.

Winton SuperSprint May 20 - 22 2016

Well another V8 event done and dusted and what a great w/end it was weather was cool but fine and the racing was great. Made my usual trek up to Winton after work Thursday to stay onsite in the bunk house always a laugh when staying with a large group of Officials around 30 of us in the Bunkhouse for this event so a full house.
Looking forward to see the new category of Toyota 86 Series about 38 cars in the field so should be interesting also supporting the Supercars we have the V8 utes, Touring Car masters and the Kumho V8s.
On Friday I was assigned Post 7.0 or known has the Tank working this CNR on my own which is pretty cool the w/end I was Assigned post 9.0 Black Flag Relay point with Alison from NSW.
Overall a good w/end with no reports from Friday at my point but we had a few on the w/end from 9.0 mainly side to side contact has they come through the cleavage all trying to get some space and pass before the straight.
The Toyota's did not let us down with plenty finding the dirt and lots of pushing and shoving which was expected seeing there was a lot of young drivers in these cars.
Overall another great event with a great Team and good crowds at the track, the true color track walk on Sunday again was great that we were able to have time to take part and meet the drivers and check out the cars before we got into the days racing.
Well looked after by Winton with dinner and drinks on Saturday night and good company Friday night where many of us had tea at the Benalla Golf Club.
Back up to Winton Next w/end for the Historic Winton round 40 years so should be another great w/end. Until next time stay safe have fun.

Phillip Island WD-40 V8 Supercars 16 & 17 April 2016

Another great W/end at Phillip Island this event I was working 9.6 Lukey Heights but has a Sector Marshal in Training with Mario Guiding me. We had a few offs into the Kitty litter on both days and plenty of run offs. Formula 4 on Saturday was the only one that needed a tow after hitting the Tyre wall lightly a few V8s from the Dunlop Series also finding their way into the litter Sunday one lighty touching the Tyre's but able to get himself out to continue on otherwise a reasonably quiet w/end with some big things happening with the Aussie Cars at turn four and latter a roll over near 8 keeping everyone one their toes.
Apart from the Supercars we had Aussie Racing cars, Dunlop V8s, Formula 4 and V8 Utes.
Scott Mclaughlin was on fire all w/end in the Volvo getting both poll and race wins well done also Team Penske with Fabian Coulthard getting 3rd on Sat and Scott Pye 3rd on Sunday, Whincup Red Bull 2nd on Sat and Winterbottom in the Bottle O Ford 2nd on Sunday.
Overall the weather was pretty good and a great finish to the main race on Sunday with the Safety Car bring the field together for the last ten laps.
Was good to learn new things and understand a different role in this big Motorsport family of ours and how we all work together to make the race meeting a better and Safer place for all of us to enjoy.
Back at Phillip Is in two weeks for a state round to do it all again.
Stay Safe till next time.

So a full day of racing from 9am till 5pm both days.
