CHAMPION OF WINTON 16/2/14

This was a one day event with Three categories Modern Sport Cars,Pulsar Challenge and Super TT. Briefing was at 08.30 with Qualifying starting at 09.30 each Category had 4 races each. With Winton again providing us the famous Hot Roast Beef rolls and salad for lunch. A nice sunny day with the wind picking up in the Afternoon. I spent the Morning in Race Control before going out to Flag Point 9 Black Flag Relay point. Good racing all day with few incidents with the only one at our point being a Pulsar losing its front right wheel rolling behind our point and across the track ending up against the wall but he was back out with repairs done in next race. Recovery crews also had a lap of Tribute for Doug Sunderland who passed away early this year. This time I went up to Winton on Saturday afternoon just under three hours from my home stayed at the bunkhouse at Winton Racetrack with 12 others and all enjoying a nice meal out at Benalla Bowls club. Till next time stay safe.

Sunday Race Day. Muster was at 4.30am race start at 6.15am. Today hot again 37-38. Track temp got to 65 during the day was a great race with the lead changing a number of times with the first 5 cars all on the lead lap near the end we knew it was going to be close. The first three cars were battling it out for the lead until car 88 FERRARI 458 GT3 won out winning the race after 296 laps and just by 0.4 seconds over the German team in their 84 Mercedes SLS AMG third place going to Erebus in 63 Mercedes SLS AMG. We had a good day with cars going wide and a Porsche getting stuck in sand that I help recover but needed a lift tow.

Training Day 1st February 2014

Well the start of the racing season is getting close and today I attended a training day organized by our club VFT (Victorian Flagmarshalling Team) and Cams supported by our other racing clubs/teams VFRS(Fire & Rescue) Team Medical,WAMS(Women in Motor Sport),Our Racing Chaplain and Sector Marshals. This was a great day with about 120 attending the information was interesting and very helpful. Plenty of questions answered and knowledge shared between groups. Good to be part of a great family of Motorsport Officials and know how we can help each other in our roles in running a race meeting so everyone stays safe and has fun. Now I can look forward to my first event for the year Bathurst 12 hour
