Melbourne AGP 23RD TO 26TH MARCH

Another year at Melbourne AGP my fifth  this year working post ten with the same team as other years.
This post is right next to the lake a bit quieter compared to last year where we had the big Alonso crash but a great spot to watch the cars st speed through the turns.
We managed to catch some in our sand trap over the four days.
So with a great view of the track and the lake we were set for a great four days with Sarah and Matt my flaggie buddies also covering the digi board.

Bathurst 12hr Feb 3rd to 5th 2017

Well the start of another Race Year with the LIQUI-MOLY Bathurst 12hr.
Arrived on Wednesday to set up camp in the Officials camp ground same site has other years the forecast for the W/end is to be Mid to High 30s but cooler evenings so should be good for sleeping.
Stocked up on  supplies and Drinks and spent rest of day catching up with fellow Marshals from Victoria and Members of FMOTW (Flag Marshals Of The World).
Thursday time to go down and check out the Cars firstly the Support Categories which included Combined Sedans, Improved Production and Radical Cup cars all big fields.
And now for the best part the GT cars and again this year a full grid of over 50 cars including the new BMW M6 GT3 plus Ferrari 488, Bentley Continental, Mercedes AMG GT and SLS, Nissan GT-R Nismo, McLaren 650s, Audi R8 LMS, Porsche 911 GT3 R, Lamborghini Hurrican and Reiter, Aston Martin V12 Vantage plus GT4 and Invitational Class

So all set for three days of Action with early starts at Muster 5am Frid and Sat 3am on Sunday.
On Friday Morning found out that I would be working Flag Point 1.3 on Mountain Straight just across from the camp ground entry I can see my Camper from this point and a nice short walk back to camp for a cold Bourbon and coke after each day.

With a Team of four we all took turns on flag Rotation and Coms with plenty of time for a rest in between. this point being a low impact area meant we had very little in the way of incidents with I think only about three written reports being done but was a great spot for seeing the cars go past at speed and also seeing all the action take place at turn 1.0, we had a few cars pulling over to Drivers left on the grass with Mechanical issues through out the w/end which most of them being able to roll back wards into MSG (Mountain Straight Gate)

Was a great w/end with a lot of front running cars being claimed by the Mountain and a Fantastic final few laps between the Merc and the winning car 88 Ferrari 488 Driven by Toni Vilander, Jamie Whincup and Craig Lowndes.

Next event for me is a State round at Winton Raceway March 4th & 5th with the next Major event at Albert Park Melbourne AGP 23-26 March

Bathurst 1000 2016

Well another year another Bathurst 1000 this year with a 10 Year anniversary of Peter Brock's Tragic death. Big crowds great racing with a great display of Brock's old racing cars hitting the track. I was assigned Post 9.0 with a great team of guys Len - Sector, Keith, Russell, Thomas and myself sharing Flags and radio. We were on drivers right along top of mountain fairly fast section with cars going close to the walls for best line. We had a few hitting the wall with A Dunlop series car 22 hitting hard and bursting into flames at the rear due to the diff oil leaking but continued on to post 10.0 but left us the oil to clean up on track. But the best hit was during the main race when Jason Brights car 8 hit the wall at about 8.5 and sent it side on into our flag point with another big hit before hitting the wall again past our point sitting at a 90 degree angle from the wall sticking out onto the track this also brought out the first Safety car for the main race after 4 hours of racing. Was great weather for the four days I think one of the best Bathurst 1000 that I have done. With Dunlop Series V8's, Porsche, Touring Car Masters, V8 Utes and Toyota 86s supporting the Super-cars made it a full program of racing.
Enjoy the photos for full album and drivers parade video go to my facebook pg "A Flag Marshals Journey" next event for me Sandown Historics in November Until next time stay Safe have Fun.

SANDOWN 500 SEPT 16-18 2016

What a great w/end at Sandown for the retro round of Supercars was assigned Sector at 0.5 for the three days with Rebecca, Zoe and Theresa on coms was a mainly fine day with practice and Qualifying rounds for all support categories which included Formula 4s, Dunlop Development Series V8s and Porsche Carrera Cup cars with the SuperCars having a number of practice sessions for co- drivers and main drivers.
First event of the day the track was still a little wet fro overnight rain the F4s came out on track and one spun and hit the wall just before our flag point and stopped about 100m down the track up against the wall first incident and first red flag of many in what was going to be an eventful w/end around the track.
Saturday and Sunday I had a different Team Tony,Tanya and Micheal was a great team to be with even though we didn't get anymore incidents there was plenty of action around the track with some big offs in Dunlop, F4s and Supercars I think the Porsche category was the only ones to keep it fairly clean. The track was dry on Saturday but stayed wet on Sunday with light showers on and off all day.

Was good to see the Retro livery and uniforms on some of the Supercar Teams and the old race cars on display around the venue.
Next event for me is Winton Vmrc R3 24th & 25 Sept and onto the Big one for the Year Bathurst 1000 in October
